  Hello,

  I currently have two domains, for separate sites. I want to switch one domain to the other site, and then delete the first site. If I delete the site first, will the domain name be lost forever? Or if I delete the site, then change the domain name to the name I want (the one I’ve just deleted) will that work? Or else, how can I switch domain name to site I want to keep?

  Hello Roisin,

  Do not delete a site until you’re finished with it and no longer wish to use it again. Once you delete a site, you can’t get it back.

  If I understand correctly, you have two WordPress.com sites and want to take the domain name of site 1 and put it with the content of site 2.

  To do that, first remove the content of site 1 by following these steps: https://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/

  Then, use the export tool on site 2 which will create a file with all of the content: https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/

  Then, use the import tool on site 1 to upload the file you created in the previous step: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

  Once you’ve confirmed that site 1 has the content from site 2, you can delete site 2 or make it private: https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
