  Hi, I just secured a more accurate domain name for my blog site. It is currently awalkinthedarksite.com and I just purchased awalkinthedark.org. What would I need to do to change my site name awalkinthedark.wordpress.com?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hi thekathyhoward,

  I would be happy to help! First ensure that you have upgraded your site to one of our plans:
  https://wordpress.com/pricing/
  The Personal Plan comes with the option for a custom domain name.

  Go to the Domains page and click Add Domain.
  Then click the Upgrade button nest to “Already own a domain”.
  Enter the domain you’d like to map and click the blue Add button.

  Update your DNS Settings with domain provider. Point the domains name servers to:

  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  Thank you so will this change cost money? And will everything as is on the site just switch over to the new, if I follow your instructions?

  It will cost money to upgrade to the Personal Plan. The plan is $4 a month, and is billed yearly ($48 a year). You also gain access to Email and Live Chat Support, and it removes ads from your site.

  And will everything as is on the site just switch over to the new, if I follow your instructions?

  Yes! Your site will not change one bit. All that will change is your URL. Once setup, your domain will point to your current WordPress.com site: http://yourlifescape.wordpress.com/

  So instead of users typing ‘http://yourlifescape.wordpress.com/’ in their browser, they can type whatever domain that you purchased!

  Be sure to check out https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/ for instructions on your specific domain provider.

  As @tryptc already said if you upgrade to one of the plans you can then map the domain you have already registered to your WordPress.com site.

  To upgrade to a plan visit this page:

  and then to map your domain here follow these instructions:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
