  I deleted my old site under the domain shamisblog.wordpress.com and want to reuse it but it won’t let me. Any ideas why I cant reuse it?

  Hi there,

  I’m sorry, but deleted sites cannot be restored or reused. Deleting a site is permanent and the name cannot be used again.

  There are several warnings about this on the Tools > Delete Site page and in the help pages.

  Hi,

  Thanks though it is not the website, content or theme I want to reuse, just the domain name. Is it still possible to do so? If not, why not?

  Hi there,

  As stated on the Delete Site support page @fstat linked to above, and in the warning messages when you actually delete a site, that process removes both the site content and the site address. The address cannot be re-used, and only in very specific circumstances can the address be recycled after a couple of years.
