Domain Name
-
I have cancelled my plan on WordPress including the domain name. I will continue to use WordPress but on Bluehost. When I try to register with my cancelled domain name on BlueHost it says that it’s unavailable, although I have just cancelled now. Is there a way I can get the old domain name back?

Hi dreamzonedblog
As per the support document for domain cancellation it says
After cancellation, there is no guarantee the domain will become available to register somewhere else, and you may not be able to get it back.
I am tagging this post as ‘modlook’ for WordPress.com staff assistance, please wait for some time they will get back to you on this.
To know more about cancellation domain here’s is the document link:

Hi there,
Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future. You should only cancel a domain if you’re completely sure you no longer want it at all.
In this case, because you cancelled the domain only a day after buying it, it should be available again to register elsewhere by the weekend, so you only need to wait a few days before you register it at Bluehost.
Alternatively I can still restore it to your account. Then you can point it to Bluehost until you’ve owned it for 60 days, at which point you’ll be able to transfer it to them completely.
Please let me know how you’d like to proceed.
