    Why can’t I start designing a website for a domain name I have without transferring it yet? I’m not ready to change it and won’t use the product if that’s the case.

    Hmm. I’m not sure what information you are referencing, but yes, you can design your site before connecting your domain. This is pretty common actually.

    You’ll be working on the free site address, this is the free version of your site. Once you have it customized and all set up you’ll connect the domain.
