  Hi, I have a domain name I would like to transfer, its currently with GoDaddy. The next renewal date is 2 August 2020. The WordPress website says that if I transfer my existing domain name, they will extend it’s registration by a year, does this mean that if I transfer to WordPress, does this mean the new renewal date will be 2 August 2021?

  Hey kerryxcelselect,

  In such a case, instead of transferring the domain, you should map it to WordPress.com.

  The domain registration remains at GoDaddy, and everything else at WordPress.com.

  When the domain is about to expire, you can transfer it.
