Domain name

My domain name is ‘parked’ because I refunded my purchase, wanting to start my blog website through a cheaper host. Now I am on wordpress.org through bluehost, and they claimed that domain name was available but I am struggling to get it on my new website. Is there some way wordpress.com can ‘unpark’ this name for me? I haven’t even been able to start my website yet.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I have restored your domain writingoffkey.com and you can now point it to your Bluehost hosted site by following these instructions:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/change-name-servers/

To be able to transfer your domain to Bluehost, you’ll need to wait 60 days from the registration date. This 60-day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived. More info here.

Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you. I’m happy to help.

Thank you very much for your help! I just saw your email… unfortunately earlier today I cancelled the domain. I didn’t see that anything had happened to it until just now. I now understand that I must simply wait 60 days to transfer the domain to bluehost. If you could reactivate it one more time that would be fantastic – I promise I will leave it for 60 days at this point!

  • I have restored your domain. I also needed to restore the WordPress.com site you deleted, as the domain needs to be connected to a site in order for you to access its setting to transfer it, etc.

While you cannot transfer the domain to Bluehost yet, you can point it to them immediately by changing the name servers to their. Please contact Bluehost to ask them for the name servers you want to use, and then you can add those using the instructions @fstat provided above.

Thank you very much for your help! I only have one more issue which is that wordpress.com is telling me my nameservers from bluehost aren’t valid nameservers. It seems like bluehost has registered legitimate nameservers, I’m not sure why wordpress.com doesn’t think so. Thanks

  • Can you please give us the name servers you’re trying to use here? Then we can try adding them from our end.

Of course – bluehost gave me these nameservers:
    ns1.bluehost.com 162.159.24.80
    ns2.bluehost.com 162.159.25.175

  • Good morning :)

I’ve updated the name servers to point writingoffkey.com to blue host using

    ns1.bluehost.com
    ns2.bluehost.com
