    hello, I have a square space site set up and once I’ve designed my new word press site I’d like to transfer my domain, Is it possible to build without a domain or with another domain before making the switch so I don’t have to take my site down until my new one is finished?

    Yes you can do that! When you sign up with WordPress.com you will have a domain name like yournewsite12345.wordpress.com – and you can develop on that.

    When you are ready, you use the https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/ site on your page to enter information about the domain you want to be on the site (as you move that from Squarespace).

    Note that if you have the domain ownership with Squarespace, you will have to transfer the domain ownership as well with https://wordpress.com/domains/add/use-your-domain

    If you have the domain somewhere outside of Squarespace, you may be able to just point it over to WordPress.com
