Domain name

    Hello,

The domain name of my site Theatre Press is currently hosted by an another company and will expire soon. I would like to upgrade my plan to premium and have my domain name (theatrepress.com.au) hosted by WordPress.

Could you please advise me on whether this is possible and how I can organise it without losing the domain name or content?

    Thank you,
    Lois

    Hi @loismaskiell,

Yes, it is possible. You can transfer your domain, which means that your domain registration and billing will be moved from your current domain provider to WordPress.com.

First you will need to make sure that your domain is unlocked. Your domain provider’s domain management interface should have an option for you to remove this lock, but some domain providers require you to contact them via their support channels to request that they remove it for you instead.

Then you go to the Domains page in your WordPress.com account, click on Add Domain, enter the domain name and then click on “Yes, I own this domain” to add it. Finally you click on Transfer to WordPress.com.

There is a very good guide on transferring domains to WordPress.com with screenshots and detailed information that you can check out here: Transferring a domain you already own to WordPress.com

Let me know if you have further questions.

    Cheers,
    Eliza
