Domain name

    Hi! I am wondering what has happened to my domain name? I used to have a website called http://www.pureheartedsoul.com and have cancelled the subscription. However, when I google the website for my old website name I find that the domain name is ‘parked’. May I still use the domain name? For how long have I bought the rights to the domain name? Is it possible to buy back the domain name? I am just about to set up a new web hosting… I am not interested in connecting back to the old premium plan that I used to have here however.

    Hi @pureheartedsoul, cancelling a domain does not free it up. It returns the domain to the registrar where it will parked / expired, or in a redemption status. I’ll see if we can get it back for you, and we’ll update you here when we have news.

    After that, you’ll need to transfer it to another provider, or renew it here. You’ll want to act quickly though.

    If you’d like to transfer it to another provider, you can do that by following the instructions here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/

    You’ll want to do that as soon as possible, as the domain is set to expire soon.

    Hi again,

    Thank you. That was good to know. I have received an e-mail where I am able to renew it. I am now wondering whether it is possible to run the website (www.pureheartedsoul.com) via a blog, so that I don’t need to set up a new premium-plan for instance..

    I need to do a budget version of this website so if that is not possible then I might need to use another domain.

    @pureheartedsoul you’re welcome to use the site here with our personal plan:
    https://wordpress.com/personal

    Or, you could keep the name pureheartedsoul.wordpress.com and run the blog here for free. If you’re going to do that, I recommend making pureheartedsoul.wordpress.com the primary name for now so any links to the paid domain will be redirected until the domain stops working.

    You’re also welcome to use the domain with another host. Just be sure to transfer it there.

    In that case, you can let it expire and only use the free pureheartedsoul.wordpress.com address which you can set it up as primary by following these instructions:
