Domain Name

    Hi,

    I am launching a website in the Fall called ‘WikiLion’. The domain I registered with WordPress is ‘WikiLion.wordpress.com’. I want to upgrade to to the business plan within the upcoming weeks to officially launch the site.

    However, as of recently somebody else has launched a website with the exact same name ‘WikiLion.com’.

    I am wondering what will happen if I upgrade to the business account to remove the .wordpress from my domain. Please let me know what is going on and what my options are. I know there can’t be 2 ‘wikilion.com’.

    You could use a different suffix. There are a number of possibilities such as .org. But do you really want a site that is so similar to another that people might confuse the two? You might have to reconsider the exact wording of the address you give your site.
