  I have my domain name registered at another place, but the cost is much more than what wordpress offers. So, can I transfer this domain to wordpress and how do I do that.

  You can not transfer domain name registration to WordPress.COM, they are not set up to accept incoming transfers. You can map the domain name to your blog here (it looks like that is what you might have already done)

  You can transfer your registration to one that costs less, namecheap is a popular registrar used by many people, it’s just that you can’t move the Registration to WordPress.COM
