  I already have a domain name that I just set up but I have no idea how to transfer it over to WordPress so that when someone types in the domain name it brings them straight to WordPress. could you please help?

  Where did you buy your domain? Not here at WordPress.com? You can map it to a WordPress.com site by purchasing a Personal plan or higher:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
  PS: A domain can be transferred when you have owned it for at least 60 days.
