  Hi,
  I already have a domain name and am not sure if I need to transfer it to WordPress or if I can manage it from my Media 3 account?

  Basically, if you map your domain, you’ll continue renewing its registration with your current provider.

  If you transfer, you’ll pay for registration renewals here.

  Transferring is nice if you want all of your payments related to your site and domain in one place. And you get the first year free.

  Mapping is nice if you have your domain registered for a long time elsewhere, if transfer isn’t available for your domain, if you’re using a subdomain, or if you’ve determined you’ll save by keeping it where it is. Just be sure to keep your domain renewed through its existing registrar.
