  Hi,
  I just signed up today. however, since i just registered my domain a few days ago thru another service, its saying i cannot transfer my domain until july. i chose not to wait and it looks like my address has wordpress.com at the end. once i finish building my website is that going to be my new domain, or with the mapping feature when i publish my site will that still be able to just type in the site name or will wordpress.com still be attached? thanks

  Hi there,

  Until July, in order to use your domain hosted elsewhere with your WordPress.com site, you’ll need to change the domain nameservers at your domain host, and point them over to WordPress.com. Our nameservers are:

  NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
  NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

  Then, you’ll need to purchase the mapping subscription upgrade as a part of a paid plan so that you can map your domain over to your WordPress.com site.

  The .wordpress.com address that you see is a blog address for your site that will forward to your custom domain once you map it over. But, while you do not have the domain attached, that is where people can go to find your site.
