  I have bought a domain name for a site I intend on making. I used to use Serif and can see it is no longer active. I have chosen WP but am slightly confused with transferring over my domain name from Heart. I have purchased the domain name for 3 years. When I attempt to transfer it says that I get one year extra registration and that it renews in one year. That is confusing as I have purchased it for 3 years already

  I’m not sure what you’re referring to here. Is Serif the name of a theme? Something else?

  When you transfer a domain, the domain is renewed for another year, yes. This happens with any domain when you transfer it to any domain provider. So if your domain is currently expiring in three years’ time, it will expire in four years’ time once the transfer completes.
