  i am new to website building. I have previously purchased a domain name through rebel.com. Or thought I had.

  http://www.darksidetechnical.ca and http://www.darksidetechnical.com

  What is the best way to build a site, and use this domain? I would prefer ‘.ca’ be my main, and ‘.com’ re-route to ‘.ca’

  My answer here will depend on which domain you already own. The .com or .ca one?

  Setting the traffic to flow to the .ca one isn’t a problem.

  Generally speaking, you would pick one of our upgraded hosting plans based on your project needs. Then, you can connect the domains to your WordPress.com account. See here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Hi there – You are in the right place! It’s very possible to use darksidetechnical.ca as your main domain and to have darksidetechnical.com route back to .ca.

  First, I noticed those two domains aren’t yet owned. If you would like, you can use the instructions below to acquire the domains and continue building your site here at WordPress.com. Here’s what you can do to get started…

  1. You will need to research and purchase the best plan for your needs: https://wordpress.com/pricing/ – you will need at least a Personal plan to be able to set up the main domain situation you prefer. If you need help choosing a plan, let us know.

  2. Be sure to add the domain “darksidetechnical.ca” to the plan purchase as your preferred domain.

  3. Once you have completed steps 1 & 2, you’ll follow these instructions to then add the second domain to your site (darksidetechnical.com): https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/#instructions-for-registering-a-new-domain
