Domain name
-
Hi, I had purchased my domain name through WP and now I want to redirect this domain to my hosting plan not my WP blog. Please help
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
I had changed my nameservers yesterday but still my domain name saqibqayyum.com not working.
-
If I understand correctly, you want to move out of WordPress.COM?
I made a WHOIS inquiry and the nameserves for that domain are still:
ns1.wordpress.com
ns2.wordpress.com
ns3.wordpress.comTry changing them again. Enter the nameservers your new hosting provider gives you by following the instructions in the link auxclass gave you.
-
Yes actually i’ve re inserted wordpress nameservers and now domain is not redirecting to my blog as well :$ I think it will take some time.
-
Changes to nameservers are not immediate. They can take up to 72 hours. Make a decision regarding where your domain name should point, change the nameservers accordingly and don’t change them again :-)
-
Alright. I’m going to change them again now but I want to know how my domain name will redirect to my page without knowing its URL.

Your web host needs to set up some records for your account (it is called Domain Mapping at WordPress.COM – different hosts call it different names) – that is how your domain name ends up at the right place.
The change name servers is quite quick (at the registrar) – it then takes a while (24 to 72 hours) for the changes to migrate across the internet.
You can watch the changes happen here: http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/saqibqayyum.com

Actually I want to redirect my domain name to my profile page at http://about.me/saqibqayyum but the problem is that about.me dont provide any CNAME or DNS. What should I do now?
-
Hi there, If I move the wordpress site or Blog to my domain will it over ride the current domain page I have there .? as It says I can’t move it to any directory. domain.com/ no slashes allowed. I am worried that it may change the php main page.
regards

@saqibqayyum: You’ll have to check with About.me or with your domain name registarar.
@bankclick: Please post the URL of your blog, starting with http://

About.me is not providing CNAME at the moment and my i have register my domain throught WP.

Hi there,
I’ve just today changed from URL forwarding to paying the $12 and adding my domain to WordPress.
I’ve turned off the URL forwarding with my Domain provider and gone through the process of adding the WP name servers to their site, however all I’m seeing now when I go to my domain is a message saying the domain is parked.
Will it be 72 hours before I start seeing my site again or have I done something wrong?
Jamie

@jamiebcollins – you did not specify a mapped domain name but when I click on your name I end up at: http://entertainmentzoo.net/
If that is not the correct domain you can check the migration across the internet at: http://www.whatsmydns.net/
It can take 24 to 72 hours for the changes to make it to the far corners of the internet – you can also have problems with local cashing issues and your local ISP. If you did things correctly then Patience Grasshopper.

Hi @auxclass. The domain that you’ve listed above is the correct one http://entertainmentzoo.net.
I have tried the tool that you mention above and run the NS search (as suggested somewhere else) and it comes up with green ticks for everywhere. Does this mean that it should not be still showing as parked?
-
The green ticks means the program can find valid data – you need to look at the data to see if the data is correct – in your case the name servers are all pointing to wordpress.com. The A Records also seem to be pointing to wordpress.com also.
Your local ISP might be caching an old data set or a router might have old data – my limited experience would indicate that I will see your new site before you will if you visited your site before you did the mapping.
My suggestion would be for you to have a cup of tea or something and be patient.
