Domain Name.

I have a question about my account’s domain name. My supervisor said when she viewed the domain name of our site, she received a message or saw a message—I’m not entirely sure—that even if we purchase a domain name it will still display it as englolearning.blog.wordpress.com. She thought that if we purchase the domain http://www.englolearning.com, our site will be http://www.englolearning.com. She wanted me to ask if we only have access to englolearning.blog and, I guess, what it would take to make http://www.englolearning.com our domain.

I have been researching information on sites for the internship I am working for, researching such things as pricing, features, themes, and so on.

Just to clarify though, these URLs do not correspond to the website I am trying to set up on WordPress. Well…actually they do, but they correspond to the main website of Englo Learning which is the business I am working for. Is there a way for me to use the same domain name for the blog I am creating in WordPress to link to our main website?

  • Hi there,

If you register a custom domain and set it as your primary address, all your visitors will see the new address, instead of the free subdomain. If someone goes to the old address though, they will be redirected to the new one.

    Here’s more information about domains:

Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.
