  I’m new to this. don’t understand. I don’t have any other domain. Not sure if my name BlueRidgeHoney is taken, but that’s what I want to use. What do I do next

  Hello there. If you wan’t to host your site at WordPress.com, you can create an account and a free-to-use WordPress site. Using the name you provided as an example it will look like this: blueridgehoney.wordpress.com. After you done that, in Domains, you can click in Add Domain, top right corner, and see if the name you want is available (I checked and it’s available until I wrote this). To use a customized site (without “wordpress”), you’ll need a paid plan. All plans comes with free domain for one year.

  Now, if you don’t wan’t to host your site at WordPress. You can use the WordPress open-source software for free and host your site in another provider, like BlueHost or GoDaddy.

  @staartmees is right. Already taken. Just the extentions aren’t. Like .org, .blog, etc.

  Hi there!

  You can follow the steps here to register a new domain:

  https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/#instructions-for-registering-a-new-domain

  You can enter “blueridgehoney” into the search and it will show you any available domains for purchase and select the one you want to use.

  Note blueridgehoney.com is already registered by someone else, so you would need to choose a different name.
