domain name

I have a purchased domain name from GoDaddy, recently purchased and now appears on my page. I am unsure how this affects what you are asking me about a new domain name as a premium member.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
You can map your domain to your new site. What that means is when someone visits your site, your domain will appear in the address bar instead of http://sharestorymemories.wordpress.com/
GoDaddy has a “forwarding” option, but that is less than ideal since Google and other search engines will see your site as http://sharestorymemories.wordpress.com/.
We have instructions on how to map your GoDaddy domain to WordPress.com.
If you have any questions or anything else we can do for you, please let me know!

I still do not see what you are talking about. I went to google.com and put in my domain and it brought me to http://www.sharestorymemories.com. it did not say wordpress. at this point I need to know what are my advantages to being a premium member.

Hi,
Your domain, http://www.sharestorymemories.com/, isn’t actually mapped to your WordPress site. The way GoDaddy forwards your domain actually hides the real address of all of your pages making it really hard (if not impossible) for your visitors to share a link to a post on your site with others.
For example, if you visit http://www.sharestorymemories.com/, it is actually showing you http://sharestorymemories.wordpress.com/ but hiding that. If you click on the title of your first post, your address bar still shows http://www.sharestorymemories.com/ even though that page is actually http://sharestorymemories.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/become-an-artist-today/
Additionally, to Google, both http://sharestorymemories.com/2013/11/19/become-an-artist-today/ and http://sharestorymemories.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/become-an-artist-today/ are two different sites, which negatively impacts your search engine results.
Lastly, if you visit http://sharestorymemories.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/become-an-artist-today/ , then navigate to other pages on your site, notice that the address remains the same. If folks find another article on your site interesting, they’ll share that link, which will take them to the wrong page and completely confuse folks.
In short, it makes it extremely difficult for your readers to use your site by continuing to have your domain forwarding to your site as it is now.
With your Premium bundle, you can correctly map your domain to WordPress.com so instead of having http://sharestorymemories.wordpress.com/2013/11/19/become-an-artist-today/ , the link will be actually http://sharestorymemories.com/2013/11/19/become-an-artist-today/. None of the confusion above would exist and the way we map your site would ensure Google and other search engines don’t negatively score your site. (Instructions to do that are found at Map an Existing Domain)
In addition to that, the upgrade removes all ads from your site, allows you to use custom fonts and colors, allows you to upload video and audio to your site, and gives you access to direct support from our staff.
If that was as clear as mud, please let me know and I’ll try a different way. Thanks!

Ok. so I have wasted the money on GoDaddy, right? So how do I do what you are suggesting? And in doing so, it is covered by my premium membership, correct? I have to tell you, this sort of thing stresses me out to the limit. I am a writer and that’s what I want to do. Period. Can you just do it for me? Do I need to cancel GoDaddy?

Hope you had a good weekend.
Don’t cancel what you have with GoDaddy—once cancelled, it can take quite some time for the domain to be available again and you might not be able to repurchase it again.
I’ve added the domain mapping to your account as part of your premium membership. There is one step that you need to do that I can’t do for you since it requires access to your GoDaddy account.
Can you follow the first set of instructions “Setting nameservers for a domain registered with us” at http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/664/setting-nameservers-for-your-domain-names ?
You’ll need to change the nameservers to three values: ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordpress.com , and ns3.wordpress.com .
Once changed, it’ll take 12-36 hours for it to be fully effective across the Internet, but you’re all set on our end here.
As an alternative, you can contact GoDaddy’s support and ask them to do it for you. Here’s a template of what you can send them:
I would like to use my domain, sharestorymemories.com with a WordPress.com site. In order to do this, I need to point my domain’s name servers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COMI do not want to transfer my domain, but want to leave it registered with you. WordPress.com does not permit mapping by setting an A record to point to an IP address. They require the name servers to be updated as described.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

Thank you for the precise instructions! I have emailed GoDaddy support with the request.

I have followed the instructions with my GoDaddy account. Is there anything else I need to do on my end?
-
The very last step is to visit your Store->Domains page to select your domain as “primary”. I didn’t do this for you since it typically takes anywhere from 2-12 hours for the change to be effective Internet wide.
A direct link to that page is at https://sharestorymemories.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains
Just click the dot next to sharestorymemories.com and click the Update Primary Domain button.
Cheers!
