Domain name

I think I don’t fully understand the use of domains. The name of my blog is Unruly Hearts. I’m trying to rename the domain name unrulyhearts.wordpress.com but my request is rejected because “The domain name you entered cannot be added to this blog. Please try a different domain name. ” Should I leave the domain name as it is now: ainhoaaristizabal.wordpress.com? Thanks!

Howdy,
You can have only one name that uses wordpress.com at a time (e.g. ainhoaaristizabal.wordpress.com OR unrulyhearts.wordpress.com ).
You can add additional full domain names (e.g. someexamplesite.com). You can purchase one for free with your premium bundle (either a .com, .net, .org, .me, or .co domain).
If you want to add a full domain, you can use the Store->Domains page, which I think is where you were trying before (direct link: https://ainhoaaristizabal.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains )
If you want to change your site URL to unrulyhearts.wordpress.com (which is currently available it appears), you can follow these instructions: Changing a Blog Address

Thank you so much for your reply and advise. I will take care of it once I can get back my blog original design (the piano black theme) as I had it. Yesterday I tried to do some changes (color, fonts etc) and is now a mess. Readers are writing to me complaining the can’t read anything. Also my homepage can’t be seen with the our original design. We get instead any article published long time ago. Please help me to go back to the original design we had (the piano black theme) with the fonts, colors, and homepage (with the Unruly Hearts NYC – Hello World! page we had and it was what readers saw first when they came to our blog. Thanks a lot for your help!

You should be able to make all of these changes from the Appearance->Customize page at https://ainhoaaristizabal.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php
On the Colors tab, you can click the “Default” option at the top to revert back to the original colors.
The “Front” tab will let you change from your posts to a static page, where you can select the Hello World page.
The Fonts tab lets you change your fonts back—clicking the x next to the custom font created will revert back to the default font.
I hope that gets you back in the right direction—please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

Thanks for your quick reply. I don’t want to make changes anymore. I prefer the way I had it in terms of design, colors and the structure. Now everything is mixed up and I lost my welcome homepage with pictures and messages to our readers. Please can you tell me how to recover my blog the way it used to be?

One more thing: Our readers are complaining they can’t see anything they want in our blog because it takes forever to find the article they want to read because the site is very slow. It happens to me too even though I cleared the cache. Please let me know how I can get my blog back the way it was. Thanks!

Correct—to make the blog go back to before, we need to undo the changes made by going to the Customize section using the instructions in my previous note.
To change the home page back, visit Appearance->Customize and choose the “Front” tab to change it to a static page, then select the page that was previous set to home.
If there are particular changes that need to be reverted back that I didn’t cover, please do let me know.
One reason your site is slow at the moment is because your home page is set to show your latest posts, which has a lot of media on them (videos, slideshows, etc). Since they’re all trying to load, it does take a little time. Changing back to your desired home page should help that quite a bit.

Yes, I made changes in appearance and now the page we had with pictures and messages to our readers is now showing. It took so long to move around the blog because the homepage was showing all of our posts which are now over 1,000! I just need to change the font type and size and color of links in our posts and homepage. Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Yes, you’re right! WOW! over 1,000 posts and counting! There is a CSS note that showed up and asked if I wanted other changes in the text to write them. I think a different type of font and size and color of links will make it easier to read the list of most recent posts. I’m almost there!
