  I have realized that someone has a domain name I would like. I went to hir site and zie created it 3 years ago and has never actually used it, so I doubt that I can find that person to discuss it. Is there any avenue to get that name besides paying for the .com version? Heck, I’m almost convinced it was me and I forgot about it.

  You have two options if the blog owners cannot be reached and/or does not transfer the blog to you:

  1. You can register another .wordpress.com subdomain URL that’s very close to the one you originally desired and use it.
  2. You can register another WordPress.com subdomain URL and purchase a domain name and domain mapping. If you do purchase your own domain and domain mapping then it won’t matter what the root blog WordPress.com subdomain URL is.
