Domain Name

  I believe I had the domain name emilyalp.com established through WordPress.com with my premium plan. However, I discontinued using the premium plan last month. Does this mean I no longer have that domain name to use elsewhere? The WHOIS says it’s registered until July of 2016.

  Can anyone assist with this? I need to find out if there’s any way to get access to the domain I was using. Right now, it tries to redirect to emilyalp.wordpress.com, but I switched the subdomain to my current site at sevendiamonds.wordpress.com. Just need to know if I can re-access that domain name and transfer it or retain it for other use, besides the premium WordPress plan.

  this has been flagged for the staff to help

  you will need to renew the domain registration to use the name again – since you did not renew the registration the domain is in the process of being deleted – but the registrar has no obligation to release the domain name and someone else might buy it

  I appreciate it. I just want to figure out what I can do to possibly retain that domain name, if it’s possible at this point.

  PS: I will be happy to renew the registration for only the domain–anything I need to do to free it from limbo (until 2016 … when I canceled it in July of this year).

  I do not wish to update the wordpress premium package–just the domain.
