Domain name
-
I want to be sure I have the correct domain name before I proceed. I searched for timothycarlone.com and it said it is available. Good. But the blog you have set up is timothycarlonedotcom.wordpress.com. I don’t want a website named timothycarlone.com.com or timothycarlonedotcom.com. I want to be sure the name is correct, but I can’t seem to find a way to verify that. Please help.

You have gone overboard and created more than one thread
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/tcarlone
Doing that can mean that all of them fall through the cracks.I will return to your earliest thread and provide a response there.https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/domain-name-923?replies=1#post-2537164
Do not create any other threads or post into any others.

Okay so this is your first thread and timothycarlone.com is not registered yet and there is no domain mapping upgrade for timothycarlone.com. If you would like to use this domain you will first need to set up domain mapping.
re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made, it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.
Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.
See https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/
Your billing history will be at Dashboard > Store > Billing History
https://en.support.wordpress.com/billing-history/Your only options for payment are found here http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/
It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
To make sure you succeed I have tagged this thread with modlook for Staff support. Subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.
Do not post into any other threads. Wait patiently.

@justjennifer
Yes, I figured that out. It’s nutbar day on the forums with multiple thread ADD ADHD posters losing it all over the place. I think I hear my armchair in my peaceful livingroom and knitting calling to me, y’know? lol :D -
But the blog you have set up is timothycarlonedotcom.wordpress.com. I don’t want a website named timothycarlone.com.com or timothycarlonedotcom.com. I want to be sure the name is correct, but I can’t seem to find a way to verify that.
The reason why you see the dotcom on your blog URL is because you entered timothycarlone.com into the domain field when you were creating the address. Leave the .com out of the field and enter timothycarlone – you should get your desired results: timothycarlone.wordpress.com to go along side your custom domain, timothycarlone.com.
Let me know if you have any other questions or issues.
Thanks!

Darnell, thank you. That is helpful.
Time thief – your condescension is not appreciated. I do not have ADD and I am not a “nut bar”. When I entered the post into the thread a message came up – multiple times – stating that there was an error processing the request and to please do it again. So I did. Which is why there are multiple threads.

@tcarlone – I’m glad that staff-doublebassd helped you work it out.
Just to clarify, both tt and I are rather longstanding forum volunteers and we both understood that *something* must have happened that would have caused the same thread to be created 3 times. This glitch, as you describe, certainly has happened in the past.
Adding to that, in the last 24-36 hours the forums saw a few highly overwrought individuals who needed an immediate answer to their question and basically posted all over the place, whether the thread was relevant or not, and additionally opening multiple threads themselves on the same topic. That *really* makes it hard to track progress on a problem. When that happens, even the most patient forum volunteer would find retiring to one’s armchair appealing (along with a nice *insert-beverage-of-your-choice-here*).
TL:DR – No worries! :)
As far as setting up your site, I see it is still in progress since you have deleted timothycarlonedotcom.wordpress.com but have not yet registered timothycarlone.wordpress.com and the domain name you mentioned has not been registered. Just be aware that when you purchase a custom domain name and mapping here, it has to have an underlying WordPressdotcom address to map it to.
Let us know if you need any more help with that.
