  i have a domain name, and no running website. is it possible to run my website via wordpress? I do not understand the advance of maping.

  Yes, you can buy the domain mapping upgrade and map a wordpress “blog” to the domain you own. It is possible to create a website as opposed to a blog on WordPress, some tips for doing so are described here:
