Domain name and monetisation

  I have designed my website using wordpress free plan but I want to get rid of name.wordpress.com extension. I know that I have to upgrade for this and also I want to monetise my website… How can I do that? I want to upload pdf’s in the website which when the users tries to download it, they have to pay for that and then download. That option seems to be unavailable here. How do I do it??

  Just to add here, any PDF uploaded to a site whose privacy settings are set to Public, the site Media Library will be searched and indexed by search engines, meaning it will be available as a download free of charge from such search engines cached files.

  If you want to have greater control over your downloads, better to host them offsite at dropbox, cloudup and the like. Once you have received payment you can send the link to the buyer.

  My product may not be sold outside India but the payment option shows that there is no option to choose Indian Rupee. Also I dont currently have the PAN card. What do I do??

  Hello again. You’ll need to check with PayPal about their payment options for India. That’s not something we can help you with.

  If you have a similar local payment gateway, you could link to it rather than PayPal, but you may not be able to use a payment button from them on your WordPressdotcom site.

  Because of the code restrictions in place on WordPressdotcom (for everyone’s safety) it’s not possible to use unapproved javascripts or iframes, which most likely would be required to embed a payment button.
