  i have a domain name which is hosted by another provider
  can i point this at wordpress and how do i do this so when people go to my domain they are redirected to my wordpress page

  if i can point my domain to wordpress will the domain name still be hosted by my original supplier or wordpress for SEO’s

  WordPress.COM is not able to accept incoming domain transfers. If you already have a domain and you want to use it with your WordPress.com site, follow the instructions for mapping an existing domain to your WordPress.com blog. http://support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/

  After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
