Domain name and source code files
-
I already had a priorly created business website done with html coding from scratch and registered and launched under its own bought domain. I was looking forward to redesigning the website in a more attractive theme. When I used one of the free themes I then connected it to the previous domain name so that if someone types that domain it would redirect to the site with WordPress. Unfortunately, this was a disadvantage in the sense that it caused the website to lose its Google ranking from and it no longer became a reputable website ranked on the first page. I was advised to buy one of WordPress’s paid themes for the reason that after using such a theme I would be able to obtain the source code files for that theme from WordPress itself and then rather than redirecting the domain name to the WordPress template, I could use those code files and integrate them in the original website’s HTML code to avoid losing any ranking.
I wanted to ask, is this true in the sense that this scenario could be done and I can actually get the HTML code of the redesigned paid WordPress template?
Also I never tried buying a theme so I wanted to know how (as in what is the process) can I obtain the code files after I buy and design.
I desperately hope for a useful response and any help is much needed.
Thank you.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I was advised to buy one of WordPress’s paid themes for the reason that after using such a theme I would be able to obtain the source code files for that theme from WordPress itself and then rather than redirecting the domain name to the WordPress template, I could use those code files and integrate them in the original website’s HTML code to avoid losing any ranking.
I wanted to ask, is this true in the sense that this scenario could be done and I can actually get the HTML code of the redesigned paid WordPress template? The advice you got isn’t accurate. If you buy a theme from us, it can only be used on WordPress.com. WordPress.com themes cannot be downloaded, and it’s also not possible to install your own themes here.
However, many of our free and premium themes have self-hosted versions available. If you view any of our themes at https://wordpress.com/themes you should see a link to the theme developer page, or a download link for the self-hosted version of the theme, in the sidebar to the right of the theme description.
Also I never tried buying a theme so I wanted to know how (as in what is the process) can I obtain the code files after I buy and design.
WordPress.com Premium Themes can only be used on the site for which you buy them. If you ever delete the site, you also lose the theme you bought.
For themes bought elsewhere it depends on the theme developer or theme vendor. Typically you’ll get a ZIP file containing all the files needed for the theme to work, but you also buy a license which specifies in which ways the theme may be used. Some developers/vendors provide support, some not, and not all offer refunds if you’re unhappy with your purchase, so do your research before you buy anything.
For more information on themes for self-hosted sites I suggest you ask in the WordPress.org forums, as the users there have more experience with this.
