Domain name and using it on other websites e.x. hosted by GoDaddy etc.

  If I purchase a custom domain name and want to e.x. move it over to another host…can I do that? Or is the domain name only effective while hosting on WordPress.com or .org?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  If you’ve registered your domain through WordPress.com and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-management/#update-nameservers
