domain name and .wordpress.com names don’t match
-
my wordpress name is not the same as my domain name. it sb peacefulcrossingAThome.wordpress.com, not IN home. the AT is correct in my domain name and it should be AT in my wordpress.com, not IN.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: YesThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Howdy,
The issue is that the WordPress.com user account you are posting from is not the owner or admin of the peacefulcrossingAThome.wordpress.com site you are trying to access. This typically happens when you’ve ended up with a second WordPress.com user account and that second account is the one that owns the site. You’ll need to log into THAT user account in order to make any changes.
If you do not have access to that second account, here are a few options:
Account recovery overview – https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/
Lost password tool – https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Account recovery form – https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recoveryLet us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.

So if I type in the address ‘peacefulcrossingINhome.com’ I get ‘site can’t be reached’.
If I type in ‘peacefulcrossingAThome.com’ it takes me to ‘peacefulcrossingathome.wordpress.com.
So I think that’s OK. Right? I just want to make sure that if someone types in the
‘AThome’ address, it will take me to my pet euthanasia website .
What happened was, the day I bought the domain name, first I did it at GoDaddy and I bought the IN name. Then I decided I wanted to use WordPress but I couldn’t transfer that name for 90 days, so I cancelled GoDaddy and changed it to the AThome name at wordpress. I might have typed in the wrong one at some point on your website. I’m doing it right now. UGH.
If I type in either …INhome.wordpress.com or …AThome.wordpress.com, they both take me to wordpress but the AThome is the big blue coming soon page and the INhome is the Hello World blog page? I’m not blogging so I just need to work on the AThome, right?
To clarify, what is my domain name? on your website it has my URL as ‘peacefulcrossingINhome.wordpress.com. So that worries me. It wouldn’t let me change that. -
No worries, we are going to help you get this straightened out. Let’s look at this one piece at a time.
peacefulcrossingINhome.com
I also see that the site can’t be reached. This is because the domain was cancelled through GoDaddy, and this is exactly what we would expect to see. You can just disregard this address unless you want to incorporate it to your plan for the site.peacefulcrossingAThome.com
This is registered here with us at WordPress.com and it is linked to your free site peacefulcrossingathome.wordpress.com. There’s a setting that needs adjusted so that folks will see the domain that you paid for in their browsers instead of the free .wordpress.com version. This is better for your brand and for search engines.https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/
Perhaps some of the confusion is coming from the fact that the domain and free site are both linked to a different account that you set up, and that is not the account that you have used here to contact us. You’ll need to get signed in to that account in order to access this site and work on it.
Did you have an existing website somewhere that you want to use? Or are you starting this from scratch? The message that you see when loading the site on your computer is just a placeholder for new sites, and it still needs to be built.
We have a great program that will build the site for you and save a bunch of time on your end. Then the site gets handed over and you can manage it all. Go here to learn more about this option: https://builtbywp.com/

OK. You are right. I found the other user name and it does have the domain that I want. And it’s set up for a website, not a blog.So I think I should cancel the other account so I’m less confused? Thank you, my head has been spinning with this.
-
You can absolutely cancel the other account if you wish. Just be very careful that you do not cancel the wrong account.

to WordPress.comso both of my accounts (email visible only to moderators and staff) AND (email visible only to moderators and staff) have the site title as peacefulcrossingINhome.com
And both say ‘coming soon’ under that. where did the peacefulcrossingAThome go? when i google peacefulcrossingathome.wordpress.com, it comes up; the other INhome does not. So I guess I deleted. that. I was able to change the title, but the wordpress name is still peacefulcrossingINhome.wordpress.com. How can I change it to AT home? I get a messsage that that name is already taken, but it’s taken by ME. How can I fix that? -
Hi @k9feldr, Google won’t have much just yet because the sites are brand new, so no worries there. It does better after you add your own images and words to the site.
We have a few things to deal with first:
1. You want one site but have two. You need to get rid of peacefulcrossinginhomecom.wordpress.com, correct? If so, please click here and follow the steps to delete the site:
https://wordpress.com/settings/delete-site/peacefulcrossinginhomecom.wordpress.comNext,
2. You have more than one account with us (k9feldr and k9feldr1) and having two seems to be causing some confusion. Please let us know which name you want to keep.
And once you’ve got the duplicate accounts and sites sorted out:
3. We’d be happy to help you get started with building the site. You can do it yourself with the guides, resources, and support we offer, or if you’d like, we have a paid service that builds the site for you.
Google and other search engines will usually start to pick up on the site after it’s ready, but we can also help you configure tools with them if you’d like. I’d recommend that after your site is set up, though.

Thank you.i will delete the inhome account.please delete the k9feldr1. Or should i do that?No idea how that happened
This can be deleted as per these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/close-account/
When i follow the link to delete the account assoc w INHOME, it tells me im deleting ATHOME.Seems I cant send screen shot to show you.
A screenshot can be shared via a link from https://snipboard.io/

peacefulcrossingathome.wordpress.com is with this WordPress.com account, so if the account is deleted, so will the site.
I hope this helps to clarify next steps.

OK then I’m not going to delete any of the accounts.I’ll just use the 1 where both are AThome and ignore the others. Thank you.

So I have 4 different sign-ins. 2 of them I can delete bc they have domain names that I don’t want. what is weird is that sign-in k9feldr and (email visible only to moderators and staff) both have the same domain ‘sitepeacefulcrossingathome.com and peacefulcrossnginhome.wordpress.com. Both of the log-offs have k9feldr@k9feldr.
The 2 that are correct are k9feldr1 and (email visible only to moderators and staff). again, these both have k9feldr1@k9feldr1 at the log-off screen.
Questions
1. how can 2 different logins have the same domain name and the same log-off?
2. I paid for business upgrade on the 2 I’m keeping by mistake so I’m planning on cancelling that on 1 of them and just use the other. Is this OK? Is it possible to merge the 2 log-ins into 1 account?
Sorry for all the posts but I’m getting close to figuring it out. I’ll never know how it happened. :-( -
The 2 that i’m keeping also have the same correct domain names: peacefulcrossingathome.com and peacefulcrossingathome.wordpress.com.
Again, how can this happen? -
Hi! I think you’re pretty close to understanding, too.
Each account has a username and an email address. So you have two different accounts, but four different ways you could log in. I think this will be easier if you remove one account. We can help.
And, the site peacefulcrossingathome.wordpress.com has a custom domain: peacefulcrossingathome.com. So that is one site with two names; two ways to access it. Click here to see what I mean: https://peacefulcrossingathome.wordpress.com — it will take you directly to the site, but the address in the bar will change to peacefulcrossingathome.com. Think of it as a nickname.
Does that help?
The only problem I see remaining is you have two accounts and two sites, and you probably want to get rid of the extra site and extra account. Is that correct?
-
k9feldr (without the 1) and (email visible only to moderators and staff) both have the ‘sitepeacefulcrossingathome.com’and ‘peacefulcrossinginhome.wordpress.com’ which I don’t need so these 2 can be deleted.
The other 2: k9feldr1 and (email visible only to moderators and staff) both have the correct domain name ‘peacefulcrossingathome.com and ‘peacefulcrossingathome.wordpress.com’. But if you delete one, doesn’t a message pop up that the domain name and site name will be permanently deleted? That scares me. I was able to find out that the domain peacefulcrossingathome.com is registered at the k9feldr1 site. So I would keep that 1. But if there’s any chance I’d lose these names, I’d rather pay the $18/year and keep them both. Thank you for your patience and help.
