Domain name available or not?

  I’d like to register a new blog, called Ouwe Zemelaar (‘Cranky Old Man’). And although ouwezemeleaar.wordpress.com doesn’t seem to be active, it is not available for me. Why not?

  Apparently someone previously registered that site address and then deleted it. Blog addresses are not recycled, not for you and not even for the person who originally owned it and deleted it. See here for more clarification http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
