Domain Name Change

  When I tried to change my domain name to “lifeinadhd.wordpress.com”, I received the error “Sorry, that site already exists!” When I typed the URL in the address bar, it said the author deleted the site. Could I not use that domain name, since it’s a dead site now?

  Hi,

  When a site is deleted, the WordPress.com address cannot be reused again.

  As honeysilvas pointed out deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made. http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

  But you can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
