Domain Name change

Please assist me to change my domain name. I first created a brand new wordpress site and chose ‘downtimedoodles.wordpress..’ Then I discovered that I can change the domain name of my current blog ‘Write Delight’ – which is what I actually wanted. Now that domain is not available anymore, even though I have deleted the newly created site. Please help.

That’s unfortunate because blog deletion is meant to be a permanent and irreversible act. Deleting a site requires ignoring several warnings that the URL cannot be registered again by you or anyone else, followed by an email with a site deletion link in it and the final warning regrading using it. https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/
Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them, and the only exceptions made for deletions made 2 or more years ago is stated here http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
If you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
