Domain name change

    Hi,

    I want to change my current WordPress domain name to another WordPress domain name that I own.
    So basically I ave 2 blogs:
    http://www.waikisays.com – I use it regularly, but I want to change the name to http://www.waikiharnais.com – this blog is empty, I own it but don’t need it, I just need the name.

    How do I do this? How much will it cost me? thank you!

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Note: If you read the information on domain mapping you will find that all “‘www” in domain URLs are automatically directed to the domain without the old fashioned “www”. You do not need to change your domain name at all.

    I don’t think you understood my question, or maybe my question wasn’t clear enough, but thank you. I’ve read that link already, I’m still lost. Also I already knew about the www thing, that was not what I was asking. I asked for help with changing the name of my site because I’m completely clueless about mapping and was hoping for step-by-step guidance, as I find some of the instructions in WordPress support quite hard to understand for people like me who don’t have a clue.

    P.S: I didn’t say my request was more urgent than anyone else’s. But thank you anyway I will try to sort out the issue.

    You can probably get the domain mapping transferred BUT any answer I can think of has a problem with keeping your old followers – I don’t know if your subscribers would stay with the base wordpress site – I see that you have several subscribers and regular traffic – you don’t want to turn them off or send them into space – maybe add domain forwarding to the changes –

    Hopefully the staff have a tricky fix it idea for you. Caution at this point is a virtue so that you don’t send your regular visitors away to the wrong site.

    Thank you! Yes it’s true I didn’t think of that. When you say “You can probably get the domain mapping transferred”, what do you mean? who does it? Do I need to do anything in particular or can I just ask WordPress to transfer it for me? because THAT would be amazing, if they could just do it automatically.

    I have seen a couple of times in the forum where the staff transferred domain mapping to a new blog so the person did not need to buy a second domain mapping upgrade after only a few days.

    Best to ask the staff for help: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ search for anything then page down to the contact form. You should also reference this forum thread to keep from reinventing the wheel.

    Ah thank you. I contacted them already, earlier today. I’m hoping they’ll get back to me soon. I will ask them to do a transfer, if possible. Thank you both for your help.

    I contacted them already, earlier today.

    Oh — o-O I see so you have already contacted Staff and you posted here anyway thinking it would expedite an answer from them. Got it now. I’ll remove the flag as it’s not needed due to the fact you have already contacted them. They will get to you as soon as they can.
