Domain name change / Old domain name as subfolder
-
Hi. I have a renewal coming up, and I’m considering changing my domain name to my actual given name, and then switching my current domain so it becomes a subfolder. How can I accomplish this?
I’m sorry if this is covered on the site. I didn’t see the specific issue mentioned. Thanx!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there!
Hmmmmmm. No, that particular request isn’t one which we get often. There’s no way to really have your current domain be a subfolder on your site with how our system is set up, but you can definitely still keep it and have it still point at your blog so that both punkrockbathrooms.com AND (yourname).com pull up your site. Would something like that work for you?
Let me know. If not, we might be able to figure something else out . . .

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m leaning toward changing the domain name to (myname).com. I wouldn’t want to maintain two domains, but I appreciate you bringing that up as a possible solution.
Can I simply change my domain name while keeping the same content?
I really appreciate the help!

Unfortunately domain names can’t really be changed. They can only be cancelled and then a new one purchased in it’s place. Since your old domain is coming up for renewal next month, that shouldn’t be too bad though. You can get a new domain purchased and allow the old one to expire!
In any case, your content will never be effected by the addition or removal of your domain name. Your content will always be tied to punkrockbathrooms.wordpress.com, though that too can be changed (though if you want to change that too, you can . . . but if you do change it away from punkrockbathrooms.wordpress.com you can never change it back. Neither you nor anyone else will be able to use that name again).
Let me know if you’ve got any questions!
