Domain name confusion

Hi there. I built a WordPress using a custom domain, and then I cancelled it (I think?), and now I am trying to completely eliminate the domain so that I am able to use the domain elsewhere. Can someone please help? Thank you!!!

Are you trying to register it somewhere else, or you only wanted to point it to a different website?
I am also tagging a WP support, you will find “modlook” on the side, so they can further check your account.

Cancelled domains are not released immediately, and it can take anything from a few days to over a year before a cancelled domain becomes available again, if at all. You should never cancel a domain that you still want to use, as there’s no guarantee that you’ll be able to use it again somewhere else in future. Only cancel a domain if you’re completely sure you no longer want it at all.
In this case, your domain won’t be released again until after its expiration date next March, and at that point anyone will be able to register it.
If you still want to use this domain I can restore it to your WordPress.com account. Then I can help you either point or transfer it to another provider. Please confirm if I should do this.
As you deleted the WordPress.com site in your account I’ll also need to you to create a new free address, as you won’t be able to manage the domain’s settings unless it’s connected to a site in our system.
