Domain name deleted too son!
-
Greetings, I purchased a domain name and canceled it prematurely. Is it possible to re-activate it before the cancelation gets processed by the registry?
Site: https://fieldandtown.wordpress.com.
WP.com: Yes
Correct account: Yes -
Just wanted to add some context (I realize I was typing too quickly in a panic thus the “son” instead of “soon”).
I purchased a plan which included a domain that I selected as fieldandtown.com. I then got overwhelmed with all of the options and canceled my plan and the domain as well even though I was warned not to do so if I wanted to retain the domain name.
Is it possible to reactivate fieldandtown.com as it’s within the 30 days? I would really love to keep it!
Thanks for your time and help!
Best,
Andrew

Hi there,
Do you still want the domain for your site here on WordPress.com, or do you plan on using it somewhere else?
If you want to use it here, I can send you a link to pay for the domain only and then restore it. But keep in mind in that case it will only redirect to your free WordPress.com address. To actually have the domain be what people see when they view your site, you will need a plan.
If you want to use it somewhere else and willing to wait a few days, the domain should become available again by early next week, at which point you can register it directly at the provider where you want to use it. If you prefer not to wait we can still restore it manually as above as well, and then help you point it to the other provider.
Let me know what you’d prefer.

Hi! Thank you so much for your help.
If I’d like to point it to another provider do I have to wait the 60 days since it was just registered yesterday? Or is it possible to redirect sooner than that? I know for sure I’d like to retain the domain so please send the link to purchase again.
Thank you!

Hi there,
If I’d like to point it to another provider do I have to wait the 60 days since it was just registered yesterday?
Due to ICANN regulations, you are unable to transfer your domain to different host within the first 60 days of registration. However, you can point the domain to a different provider and use it that way in the meantime.
Let us know if you want us restore the domain for you so you can at least point it until the 60 days has passed.
Thanks!

I have sent a payment request for the total of $18 to the email address on your account.
Once the payment is sent, please reply here to let us know, and we will recover the domain.

Payment received, and fieldandtown.com has been recovered!
You can direct it to another hosting provider by changing its name servers: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/change-name-servers/
And, after 60 days (this waiting period is imposed on all domain registrars by the organization which oversees them: ICANN), you can transfer it to another registrar by following the steps at https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/transfer-domain-registration/
