    Hi,
    I wanted to buy a domain named “EarthlyLiving.org” .
    But when I registered, the URL says- eathlylivingdotorg.wordpress.com. Why ?
    And where is the payment option ?
    It would be appreciated, if you can help.

    You cannot register a URL that another person owns. earthlyliving.org is hosted by GoDaddy.com. Click for the whois information.
    Name Servers:

    Do you own that domain? If you do then you need to set up domain mapping here at WordPress.COM and that cannot be done without an underlying .wordpress.com blog address to map from.

    WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

    Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.

    Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

    Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet.     Yes, I own it.
    Got the domain from GoDaddy after a failed attempt to get the domain- EarthlyLiving.org on WordPress.

    I just need to delete the domains on WordPress now.
    So, I can map in the future should the need be.
    Is it possible to delete the domains on WordPress?

    Hi Snigdha,

    The address earthlylivingdotorg.wordpress.com is the free WordPress.com address for your site. That address is used behind the scenes (for example, in your site’s dashboard) to make sure nothing ever happens to your site’s content, no matter whether or not you’re using a custom domain.

    To add your domain EarthlyLiving.org to that site, you can head to your Domains page and follow our guide for Mapping an Existing Domain.

    If you’d like to change that behind-the-scenes address, too, you can follow our steps for Changing a Blog Address. (However, that will only change the free WordPress.com address that you see in your dashboard — once you map your custom domain, visitors will only see that domain when they visit the site.)
