Domain name expired and I wish to renew but I do not have privileges.

The main administrator on the blog/domain passed away one week ago. I’d like to pay the $18 annual fee to continue the domain name attachment to the blog. When I attempt to do that I am told I do not have the privileges to do so.

Hello there. I am so very sorry for your loss. I would very much like to help with this situation and do not want the domain to be lost. We do need the deceased’s family to contact us. Some families prefer the site be marked private, or closed down, or transferred to a new user. We want to honor their wishes. They can contact me at help (at) support.com and mention me (Robyn) in their note. Once I hear from the family about their wishes, I can the send you instructions on what needs to happen next in order to transfer the site ownership.

@thatrobyn – I thought there was a recent addition of the ability of someone to “gift” a renewal to a blog – why would not that work while the family straightens out the legal requirements for transferring the blog to another account?

We have a particular procedure due to the sensitivity of this issue. Once I am able to correspond with deceased’s family, everything will be settled. Thank you.

I don’t think that his family would care to be bothered by this type of issue at this time. Some of them may not have even know he kept up with a gaming blog. I was a co-administrator on the blog and have never been introduced to his family – I would feel intrusive to even bring it up.
The co-administrator isn’t able to renew the annual domain linkage?

I just want his work to live on and for people that read his blog to be able to access it at the link they are familiar with.
