domain name expired: need to recover

My domain name http://www.bloodandoranges.com appears to have expired on 8/25. I did not receive a notification to renew. Now, it appears to have been hijacked by a third party domain name registrant.

According to the help section, there is a process to recover expired domain names and that it’s not a problem if within two weeks. How did someone else grab and register my domain name so quickly? If so, the help section should be updated to warn other registrants.

When a domain expires, it then goes through a process that can take several months to complete described at https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/.

If you are in the grace period you will not have to agree to pay a redemption fee set by the domain name registrar that wordpress.COM staff cannot waive.

Otherwise, if you want Staff to try to recover the domain for you then you will have to agree to pay the redemption fee.

If you’re logged into the account that is associated with your expired domain, they will look up its status and get in touch with details.

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into the associated account, and provide the domain URL here.

Hi there,

bloodandoranges.com expired on 6/13/2017 and went into redemption. It was picked up by someone else when it became available – most likely a domain squatter since there is no site connected to the domain. You can try and reach out to them, but they might charge you a ridiculous amount to retrieve the domain.

The best bet would be to purchase a different domain that is available such as bloodandoranges.org.

I am also having the same issue with my domain whollyhair.com. I am currently in the redemption period and have been frantically trying to redeem it before it’s too late. Can you please help me with this issue? It would be greatly appreciated.

I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore whollyhair.com to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back. If I am successful, I can send you a manual payment request form for you to repurchase the domain. But first let me know if you agree to pay for the domain and the fee.

Here is information on the redemption process.
