Domain Name Expiring?

  Hi,

  I have just a quick question here.

  I got an email from WordPress.COM (yes, .COM) recently that said my domain name was about to expire.

  This is the exact text:

  Dear A___________,

  This email is to notify you that the following domain name(s) is set to expire on the date(s) listed:

  ____________.COM – Mar. 07, 2015

  To renew, cancel or otherwise manage your domain(s) and for further assistance, please go to the Store -> My Upgrades section of your WordPress.com dashboard.

  I went into WordPress.com to try to figure all this out. I was really surprised because I moved my site to .ORG, and I was pretty sure that WordPress.COM had nothing to do with anything. Unfortunately, going on to WordPress.COM only added to the confusion. When I went there, I got THIS message:

  Your domain constantcopywriting.com expired 12 months ago. Please renew it now to make sure visitors will be able to reach your site at that address.

  Two contradictory messages.

  And they leave me with one big question:

  Who the heck am I actually registered with here? Is it WordPress.com or some other registrar?

  According to the email I’m due to lose the domain on the 7th. According to WordPress.com I lost it 12 months ago… But that can’t be right, my site is still up.

  Anybody have any ideas?

  Your custom domain, constantcopywriting.com, is registered with WordPress.com and is valid through 2015-03-07.

  You can verify this and renew it here:

  Keep in mind that domain registration and site hosting are distinct services. Your domain is registered with WordPress.com, but it is pointing to a site hosted elsewhere.
