Domain name for blog site

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello

    I am a bit confused

I am setting up a blog and I already have a domain name from another host that ends in .com.ng

I have seen that wordpress doesn’t support transfer for .ng so I have to connect instead of transfer.

I have tried connect but it keeps on taking me to a payment page for premium which changes the $96 to $0 and asking to enter my card details.

    I want to know:
    1. Why I am being asked to enter card details when blog sites are supposedly free? Or I am the one who misinterpreted
    2. If I enter my card details, will it start billing me after a year of free connection to my domain name provider?

    Thank you

    WP.com: Yes
    Jetpack: No
    Correct account: Yes

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,

    Many thanks for reaching out.

    1. Why I am being asked to enter card details when blog sites are supposedly free? Or I am the one who misinterpreted

In order to set a custom primary domain, there would need to be a paid plan in use on the site.

When there’s a paid plan, it’s free to connect the domain.

At a minimum you would need to have a personal plan in use on the site:

    2. If I enter my card details, will it start billing me after a year of free connection to my domain name provider?

You wouldn’t be billed for the domain connection, but instead the plan, whichever one is required. This would be separate to the domain registration fees.

It looks like you’re just starting out, what plans do you have for your blog? As a blogger myself, I’m always excited to see new ideas and I’d love to help guide you if I can. :)
