Domain Name Forwarding From Yahoo Not Working
-
Hi. My website, http://www.tcmediaalliance.org is registered through Yahoo. I tried to forward it to http://www.twincitiesmediaalliance.wordpress.com by using Domain Forwarding on the Yahoo Domain Control Panel.
That didn’t work.
Then somebody told me to change the nameservers to ns1.wordpress.com, ns2.wordserver.com, ns2.wordserver.com.
I did that three days ago, but when I type in http://www.tcmediaalliance.org url, my browser (Firefox) still can’t find the server.
I called Yahoo, and they told me to change the nameservers back to Yahoo’s (yns1.yahoo.com, etc.) But she didn’t seem completely sure, and told me to check with WordPress.
So, what should my nameserver settings be?
Thanks,

Hi there, did you take a look at this? http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/10/domain-mapping/

Hi. I did that, and followed the instructions:
In your blog click Settings > Domains. Put your domain name in the box, click ‘Add domain to blog’.“Your domain should then appear as a choice below that button. Next to the domain name it will say “Put blog here”. Click that.”
But now, when I type in the url, http://www.tcmediaalliance.org, instead of being forwarded to http://www.twincitiesmediaalliance.wordpress.com, I get forwarded to http://wordpress.com/signup/?new=tcmediaalliance
which invites me to create a new blog…Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Hmm – I just went to your blog http://twincitiesmediaalliance.wordpress.com (note there is no www in the address) and it took me to http://wwww.tcmediaalliance.org/
Now, you need to look at that address VERY closely – there are FOUR w’s in there, not 3. Somehow, you have mapped your blog to a subdomain of tcmediaalliance.org instead of to the main domain. Perhaps that was your intention – I don’t know – but that’s what you did.
The key for me in figuring that out was that I know that www (3 w’s) is stripped out of any domains mapped here.
