Domain Name Glitch?
-
I signed up for a free wordpress account and chose the domain name of my therapy company to keep it as cohesive as possible with my official business website. However, when I officially moved forward with this specific domain name, it somehow didn’t register and is now showing up as something totally different than what I chose. I tried to change it, but now it says the domain name I originally selected is no longer available. It’s like it *was* registered to me (which is why it’s now unavailable all of a sudden) but it’s also not showing up as my actual domain name. So the name that I selected is seemingly just lost forever? I’m not sure what to do and word press won’t help free account holders directly. I appreciate any help anyone has to offer! Thanks in advance.

To register a domain here you need to pay. It can’t be done for free. You will need to upgrade your free site to a Personal plan to register a custom domain (or to connect a custom domain you may already have purchased elsewhere).

Hi there,
I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with your domain name. I’d be more than happy to help you figure out what’s going on.
To assist you more effectively, could you please provide me with the domain name you originally chose? It would also be helpful to know whether you were attempting to register a free .wordpress.com address or if it was a custom domain name (like mydomain.com).
If you’re looking to register a custom domain name, you can do so by going to Upgrades > Domains > Add a domain. Please note that if you upgrade to one of our annual plans, you’ll be able to register a domain for free for the first year.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
