Domain name hosting

I currently have a website hosted with another provider. If I build a website using word-press can I, at some stage in the future, associate that website with my current domain name either hosted by word press or another provider in a manner transparent to our website visitors i.e. without jumping them around from ‘primary domain name’ to ‘word press URL’? Thank you, Yulia

    Hello there.
If I understand your question then you should be talking about mapping your domain. That is to say if your site’s domain is XYZ.wordpress.com, you want that it should rather be XYZ.com.
You can see all about domain mapping on here: https://wordpress.com/support/domains/map-existing-domain/

    I hope that helps.

    Best Regards.

  • Hi @uplevelsolutions – The short answer is “yes, you can do this.”

The best practice is to first build the website on the host you choose. This will give you the best understanding of what you are getting into with that host. You can learn which hosting option is the best fit for your needs, how their support team responds to your requests, and much more.

Once the new site is ready, you can “launch” the new site by adjusting your domain’s “DNS” settings to point to the new website. Within ~24 hours all of your site visitors would consistently see the new site at your domain.

If you are interested in the hosting we provide at WordPress.com, let us know. Here is a breakdown of our hosting plans: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

If you would like to tell us a little about the new site you want to create, we’re happy to try to make a plan recommendation or two.

Just as well, if you have a budget for, and are interested in, having experts build the site for you, we offer that service right here.
