Domain name Hosting from WordPress to SiteGround… Do I still pay WordPress?
-
Hello, I have a weird problem.
While I was aiming to find a host for my website, I first bought a domain name from WordPress, changing my website from piercegordon1.wordpress.com to piercegordon1.com.
I moved my hosting of my website (www.piercegordon1.com) and, seemingly, the owner of the domain name, to SiteGround, and paid them to take care of the website, a few months ago.
However, I just received an email a few days ago saying that in 60 days, the domain name will be renewed, and I’ll have to pay WordPress again for the domain name. I thought this wasn’t necessary, because the domain name is currently being hosted by SiteGround.
Do I have to pay two different companies for the service I thought I moved? Or, is there a way to cancel the WordPress account I thought I canceled, and keep the website where it is?
Thanks so much.

Your custom domain is still registered with WordPress.com.
If you’d like to transfer your domain to another registrar, you can do so.
The guide below explains how to transfer the domain name to another registrar, including how to access the authorization (EPP) code:
Alternatively, you can leave your domain registered here and let it auto renew.
