Domain name in redemption period

  • Unknown's avatar

I registred the domain name ANDYJAM.COM with WordPress a year ago and then connected it with another service provider.

I’ve accidentally allowed my domain name to expire and I need to retrieve it. I’ve just renewed my Premium Subscription with WordPress but it seems that my domain name is not working. What do I do? When I click on my Domain Name settings it says “andyjam.com’s name server records should be configured.” If I click on “learn more” it says that I need to validate it but I don’t know how.

If I search for the ownership data it says that my domain name is in Redemption Period.

Please let me know what I should do!

I am also tagging this thread with modlook in sidebar to help you regarding the same.

    Thank you 🙂

  • Hi there,

That domain has already been removed from our system and is currently in redemption with our registrar, as you’ve already seen. It is still possible for me to recover the domain at this point, but our registrar charges a $80 fee to restore a domain from redemption. I’ll need you to agree to that fee before I can get the recovery process started.

Thank you so much @kokkieh ! I do I pay the fee??

  • Unknown's avatar

I meant how* do I pay the fee?

  • I’ll send you a link to pay for that.

However, I see that in trying to get the domain back you’ve bought a Premium Plan. Do you intend on keeping that plan? If not, I can use the payment you made for the plan to cover the recovery and renewal fee for the domain. How would you like to proceed?

Thank you! I don’t intend on keeping that plan so you can use that payment.

Just a quick questione: would I still be able to transfer/connect my domain (once recovered) to another service provider without the Premium Plan?

    thank you so much @kokkieh

  • Thanks for confirming. I’ve emailed our registrar to restore the domain. They usually take between 24 and 48 hours to reply.

would I still be able to transfer/connect my domain (once recovered) to another service provider without the Premium Plan?

You’ll still be able to transfer your domain, or to connect it elsewhere, yes.

  • Your domain has been restored, and I’ve reactivated it on your account, so you can use it again.

You can find instructions for the different options to point the domain elsewhere, or to transfer it, here:
