Domain name inquiry–3 questions

  I have tried to search for answers to all my question without much success…

  If I purchase the $15 mapping domain & register feature with WordPress.com and in 4 MONTHS decide to start my own site with that name:

  OUESTION 1: Can I re-map my domain name to the new site?
  QUESTION 2) If yes, will I be charged again?
  QUESTION 3) to renew yearly is it $15 bucks or $10?

  1. yes but there is a 60 day wait before you could map the domain to the new site

  2. no you will not

  3. I’m pretty sure it will cost you the $15 since you have to have the domain mapping in order to manage the domain name and the settings. You can though after the 60 day wait, transfer the name to another registrar although I think there is a fee on the receiving end for that.

  what if i recently purchased my domain name on wordpress.com and wanted to remap it once i decided to get more in-depth with a wordpress.org sight… would i be able to do that?

  Yes, you do that under domain management in your dashboard.
