Domain name is in limbo
-
Hi,
I paid for my domain name and am still waiting to hear back about getting a refund – I would really appreciate a quick response on this as I don’t want to have to take a week to get this sorted. I paid up for a premium subscription and a domain name but once I started using the site I realised it didn’t have the features it advertised in terms of being able to customize things. I read on the WordPress site that to cancel my domain I had to first cancel my premium subscription so I have cancelled this even though I didn’t really want to. I now have limited access to support and my domain name appears to be in limbo. I would like to use my domain name on a wix website – can I please transfer it? I hope this is possible as I have had no confirmation of a refund for my domain name so far. If it is not possible to transfer please can I have a refund for my domain name and please can you advise why the domain currently says it is ‘parked’. Many thanks, Lesley. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Lesley,

A refund was issued to you 2017-01-30. Refunds usually take about a week to process and show up on your statement.
You can view, print or email yourself a copy of the refund receipt from your Billing History here:

There are two options.
1. A cancelled domain is normally released back into the pool of available domains 5 days after cancellation. This is not an exact timeframe and cannot be guaranteed. The best advice I can give you is to keep checking to see if the domain has become available again and then re-register it elsewhere.
please can you advise why the domain currently says it is ‘parked’
Your domain is currently showing as parked because it has been cancelled but not yet released.
2. I could try to restore the domain for you but I would need to send a payment request for the cost of the plan (includes domain registration cost). Newly registered domains have a 60 day lock, during which time they cannot be transferred. This 60 day lock is required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and cannot be waived.
Let me know what you would like to do and if you have any questions.
